Awards for Service to Girlguiding

Did you know that there are a number of awards that can be awarded for Service to Girlguiding?

If you would like to nominate a member of Girlguiding Sefton for an award please download and complete the attached nomination form here.

The Sefton Awards Group will then discuss the nominations and set in motion procedures to progress some of the nominations to the next stage.

The awards that people can be considered for are:

  • National Honours CBE OBE MBE – for exceptional service to the nation which can include exceptional service to Guiding.
  • Silver Fish – Guiding’s highest award to active members in recognition of outstanding and distinguished service and an exceptional contribution to a wide section of Girlguiding including international either in UK or abroad.
  • Laurel Award – Given in recognition of outstanding service to Guiding by an active member.
  • Good Service Brooch – Awarded by County Commissioner to active members for excellent service to Guiding in the county.
  • NWE Region Chief Commissioner’s Award – For members of NWE who have displayed enthusiasm, abilities or qualities that make the recipient stand out as an ambassador for the region. This could be her work towards a specific event, the impact she has on her unit, district, division, county or the impact she has had on a specific girl.
  • NWE President’s Award – For younger members who have gone the extra mile to help others and who have had a positive impact on their community and beyond.
  • The Guiding Star – For any member up to 26th birthday who has displayed exceptional courage or who has shown great initiative or responsibility at an incident.
  • County Recognition Award – awarded by the county for exceptional service to the county.
  • Thanks Badge – Can be awarded to members or non-members after consultation with the relevant commissioner. (not part of the awards committee remit).

Sefton Star Award

This is a new award open to all girls and volunteers in Girlguiding Sefton that aims to recognise those who have “shone” in their role or stood out as a “bright light” in their unit, district or division.
